Angkor Wat is the world’s largest religious building. It is located in the city of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. It was built in the middle of 17th Century or during the reign of Suryavarman II, the golden era of Khmer Kingdom. It was constructed to be the main religious place of the kingdom. The size of the temple is over 820,000 square meters. It took more than a hundred years to complete the construction, with more than 100,000 workforces, over 40,000 elephants and 5,000 carvers. The greatness of Angkor Wat is a symbol of Camodia. It is shown in the national flag. Angkor Wat became a UNESCO’s world heritage site in 1992.
