Historic City of Ayutthaya, located on a plain Chao Phraya River, was the capital city of Thailand from 1893 to 2310. It was a center of arts and cultures, government, religions and international trading. Now, in Phra Nakorn Sri Ayutthaya District, the past prosperity still remains as “Ayutthaya Historic Park”. The park includes temples, old palaces and 69 national archeological sites. It became a UNESCO’s world heritage site, under the name “Historic City of Ayutthaya and Associated Historic Towns” in the World Heritage Committee’s 15th meeting in 1991 at the city of Carthage, Tunisia.
